The importance of the sewing thread

For a good quality sewing the thread that seams the parts together is of great importance. The main features of the sewing thread for good quality work are : tenacity, uniformity of twisting, bonderizing, lubrication and elasticity.

In order to achieve those characteristics and thus a good quality work, some aspects must be tended to:

  • kind of material
  • thickness of thread
  • tension of sewing thread
  • kind of stitch
  • appropriate needle

Heatproof features of threads

Polyamide reaches its Softening Point at 220 degrees and its Melting Point at 240 degrees. Polyester , however, reaches its Softening Point at 230 degrees and its Melting Point at 260 degrees.
